The first hotel management college in Nepal, Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management College (NTHMC), organized a three day “Training cum Workshop” program on “Emerging Pedagogies in Management” which was held on 7th June and ended on 9th June, 2018 at Hotel Dhaulagiri View, Dhampus. The program was chaired by the chairperson of college management committee, Mr. Ashok Kumar Palikhe and anchored by Jr. Professor as well as Exam Coordinator, Mr. Suresh Raj Adhikari. The program was inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. Krishna Thapa, Member of Provincial Assembly, Province No 4, who lit a lamp to commence the program and during his inaugurated address, he appreciated the program and stressed on the need for compliance for this sector. Mr. Ashok Kumar Palikhe, the chairperson of the College Management Committee briefed about the program and its relevance for the management college. He thanked University Grants Commission (UGC) for its support to the program and outlined the aim and purpose of the program.
After the formal welcome and lighting lamp, the session started with the presentation of Mr. Bharat Sing Thapa, lecturer, Central Department of Management, TU. Mr. Thapa focused on case method of teaching i.e. role play and simulation, reflection and its implication. Session delivery plan were prepared for 8: 00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. The schedule could not follow exactly for the first day due to Opening Ceremony. The deficit time compensated on remaining days by starting earlier and continued up to late hour. Informal discussion and practical works were done out of scheduled time as well. Review and reflection was done each day using different participatory tools for strengthening their learning. In the second day, Prof. Dr. Bijaya K.C., Dean of Kathmandu University, faculty of Management presented the teaching pedagogy and handling the cases in the class room. Prof. K.C. made participants to prepare group presentation after the separate readings. Closing program was carried out formally. Resource person Prof. Dr. Bijaya K.C. as the chief guest of the formal session distributed certificates to the participants. The participants’ representatives expressed their view about training. They have appreciated the training content, methods and skill of the facilitators. At the formal session, Mr. Jas Bahadur Gurung, Program Coordinator, thanked everyone who knowingly as well as unknowingly supported the program. College Principal, Mr. Prakash Regmi presented TOKEN OF LOVE to the resource person Prof. K.C. The formal valedictory session was moderated by Jr. Professor Mr. Suresh Raj Adhikari.
